Israeli forces conducted a raid on the town of Qabatiya in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the deaths of at least seven Palestinians. Video footage showed soldiers pushing what appeared to be dead bodies off a rooftop, sparking outrage and condemnation from Palestinian officials. The incident was described as a “crime” that exposed the brutality of the Israeli army.
Mustafa Barghouti of the Palestinian National Initiative condemned the soldiers’ actions as “savage and inhuman.” The Israeli military, which claimed to have killed four Palestinian gunmen during the clashes, acknowledged the abuses captured in the video and said the incident was under review.
The raid also resulted in the deaths of two young men in a bombing attack near a commercial complex in the town. Palestinian Red Crescent teams recovered the body of another man from the besieged building. Eleven people were injured in the clashes, and around 1,000 children were barricaded in schools and a kindergarten before being evacuated with the help of the Red Crescent.
This incident comes after a deadly assault on cities in the West Bank last month, where at least 39 Palestinians were killed. More than 600 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October, marking the deadliest year in the region since 2005. Palestinian officials condemned the raids, emphasizing that the Israeli military’s actions were targeting a civilian population.
