Warren Jones Crazybull, a 64-year-old man from Idaho, has been charged with making threatening phone calls to former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Court documents reveal that Crazybull made at least nine calls on July 31, threatening to kill Trump, with one call specifically mentioning going to Bedminster, New Jersey, where a Trump National Golf Club is located.
Crazybull pleaded not guilty to one count of making threats against a former president and is scheduled for trial on October 28. A Trump campaign spokesperson blamed Vice President Kamala Harris and Democrats for the threats, calling on them to apologize and tone down their rhetoric. Harris has condemned political violence and expressed relief that Trump is safe.
The Secret Service identified Crazybull through phone records and voice recordings from security at Mar-a-Lago. He was located in Montana through T-Mobile phone data and appeared paranoid during an interview. Crazybull stated he would not try to kill Trump but would not allow him to become president again.
The threatening calls came shortly after an attempt on Trump’s life in Pennsylvania and a related incident at his golf club in Florida. Security for Trump has been increased following these events. Ryan Wesley Routh, the man behind the Florida incident, is being held pending trial after describing his actions as an “assassination attempt” in a letter.
