Intelligence officials have warned Donald Trump of specific threats from Iran to assassinate him, according to his campaign. Trump claimed on his Truth Social platform that there are “big threats” on his life after receiving an intelligence briefing. His campaign spokesman stated that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence had identified real and specific threats from Iran to destabilize the United States and sow chaos. Law enforcement officials are working to protect Trump and ensure the presidential election on November 5 is free from interference.
Iran has denied accusations of interfering in US affairs and did not respond to requests for comment. The specifics of the threats were not addressed by an ODNI spokesperson, and it is unclear if the threats are new or previously reported. Trump had previously accused Iran of hacking his campaign and had his protection increased after a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania earlier this year.
In a separate incident, a Pakistani man with alleged ties to Iran pleaded not guilty to charges related to a plot to assassinate Trump in retaliation for the killing of Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020. Federal authorities are also investigating an apparent assassination attempt on Trump at his Florida golf course in September. Despite these threats, Trump remains determined to continue his presidential campaign, stating that he is surrounded by men, guns, and weapons like never before.
