The Chicago White Sox suffered their 121st loss of the season, breaking the MLB record for most losses previously held by the New York Mets. After a successful 2021 season, the White Sox have seen a decline in performance, with only 39 wins so far this season. Offense has been a major issue for the team, ranking near the bottom in many statistical categories. First baseman Andrew Vaughn has the highest batting average on the team, hitting .248. The White Sox had a rough start to the season, going 3-22 in their first 25 games, the worst in franchise history. They also set a franchise record with 21 consecutive losses, becoming the first team since 1988 to have such a streak. Despite winning nine games each in May and June, they only managed to win seven games total in July and August.
