Iran fired nearly 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday night, with Israeli authorities stating that most were successfully intercepted. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that their missiles hit their targets, mainly Israeli military bases. The attack was in response to recent Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, killing Hezbollah leaders and displacing many. The UK and other unnamed countries reportedly assisted Israel during the attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed a severe response, stating that Iran would pay for the missile launch. The Israeli Defence Forces also warned of consequences. Iran’s Foreign Ministry declared the attack over, but armed groups in Iraq threatened retaliation if the US got involved.
The Palestinian group Hamas praised the missile strike, while Iranians took to the streets in support. The US State Department and UK Defence Secretary acknowledged their involvement in assisting Israel during the attack. Netanyahu warned that Iran’s regime did not understand Israel’s determination to defend itself. The situation remains tense, with the potential for further escalation.
