A federal grand jury in New York is currently hearing new evidence as part of the investigation into Sean “Diddy” Combs. Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. A superseding indictment could affect the length of his trial, which is set to begin on May 5. Combs is currently being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, and his legal team is seeking to appeal his detention. In addition to his criminal trial, Combs is facing a wave of civil lawsuits, including accusations of sexually assaulting two boys in 2005 and 2008. Combs has denied these allegations. He settled a lawsuit last year with his ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura, who accused him of physical and sexual abuse. Surveillance footage released by CNN showed Combs beating Ventura in 2016, and prosecutors have included this in their case against him. Combs’ legal team maintains that he has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone, and they have confidence in the judicial process. Despite the numerous civil suits he is facing, Combs has only settled one. His legal team continues to defend him against the allegations.
