In a nonconference men’s basketball matchup, Bethune-Cookman defeated South Carolina State with a score of 75-62. Brayon Freeman led the Wildcats with 20 points, followed by Trey Thomas with 17 points and Daniel Rouzan with 13 points. Bethune-Cookman held the Bulldogs to just 5 of 19 from three-point range, while dominating inside the paint with a 40-28 advantage. Reggie Ward Jr. contributed with a career-high 15 rebounds, completing his first double-double of the season. The Wildcats shot 46.7 percent from the field in the first half, taking a 31-25 lead at halftime. In the second half, Bethune-Cookman converted 22 out of 27 free throw attempts to secure the victory. Freeman scored 18 points in the second half, going 10-for-11 at the charity stripe. South Carolina State’s Jones led his team with 16 points, followed by Dubinsky with 13 and Croskey with 12. The Bulldogs struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 26.3 percent. Bethune-Cookman will next face Tulane on November 19 as part of the Cancun Challenge.
