Over 1.4 million South Carolinians have already cast their ballots during the early voting period for the 2024 election, surpassing the early voting turnout in the 2020 presidential election. Greenville County led with 143,463 early votes, followed closely by Charleston County with 139,086 votes. As of Sunday morning, a total of 1,478,278 voters have participated in the election, accounting for roughly 43% of the state’s registered voters. This year marks the first time South Carolina has allowed “no-excuse early voting” during a presidential election, providing more flexibility for voters.
Tuesday marks the last chance for registered, eligible South Carolina voters to vote in the 2024 election, with polling places open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Anyone in line at 7:00 p.m. will still be allowed to vote. Voters must present a valid Photo ID such as a driver’s license, ID card issued by the DMV, voter registration card with photo, military ID, or US passport at the polling place.
To find their election day polling place, voters can visit the “Find My Polling Place” tab on scVOTES.gov. South Carolina residents are encouraged to participate in the democratic process and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming election.
