Press Release: 12-Year-Old Charged in Shooting Incident in South Carolina
Richland County, SC – A 12-year-old boy has been taken into custody following an alarming incident in which he allegedly shot a 14-year-old during a verbal dispute on the evening of November 11. According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene near Ranch Road shortly before 7 p.m., where they discovered the 14-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation revealed that the incident occurred when the younger boy, in the presence of four other juveniles, escalated a verbal argument to the point of gunfire. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities noted that the alleged shooter later turned himself in to law enforcement. Additionally, it was revealed that this individual is also a suspect in a separate armed robbery that took place in March. As a consequence of the shooting incident, the 12-year-old is facing serious charges including attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a minor, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He has also been charged in connection with the earlier armed robbery.
