South Carolina tightens hold on No. 1 spot in Women’s college basketball Power Rankings following victory over NC State

South Carolina remains at the top of CBS Sports’ women’s college basketball Power Rankings for the opening week of the 2024-25 season. The Gamecocks secured their 40th consecutive win, joining UConn as the only programs with multiple 40-game winning streaks. UConn holds the No. 2 spot in the rankings, awaiting the return of key players. USC had a close call in their season opener against Ole Miss, but managed to pull off a victory. Ole Miss improved in the rankings after bouncing back with a big win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Stanford and Oregon made their way into the rankings following impressive performances. Stanford sits at No. 21 after wins against Washington State and Gonzaga, while Oregon upset Baylor with the help of star player Deja Kelly. The official CBS Sports women’s college basketball Power Rankings also list TCU, Utah, Iowa, Florida State, and Michigan as the first five out.
