President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former congressman and Fox Business host Sean Duffy as his pick for transportation secretary in the upcoming administration. This follows his recent announcement that he would nominate Fox News personality Pete Hegseth to lead the Defense Department.
Trump praised Duffy as a respected voice during his time in Congress, advocating for fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and rural development. He highlighted Duffy’s experience and commitment to maintaining and rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, focusing on safety, efficiency, and innovation.
The president-elect also mentioned that Duffy would work towards eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion programs for pilots and air traffic controllers to make the skies safer. The post requires Senate confirmation and the Transportation Department consists of approximately 58,000 workers.
Duffy, who served in the House from 2011 to 2019, was previously a special prosecutor and district attorney. He gained recognition for appearing on the reality TV series “The Real World: Boston” in 1997. He is married to Rachel Campos-Duffy, who was also on the show.
Fox News praised Duffy for his contributions as a co-host on “The Bottom Line” and announced his departure from the network effective immediately. Overall, Trump’s nomination of Duffy reflects his focus on experienced and well-respected individuals to lead key departments in his administration.
