Three South Carolina men’s soccer players have been recognized for their outstanding performances both on the field and in the classroom. William Nilsson, Ethan Ballek, and Ted Cargill have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer Team by College Sports Communicators (CSC). This award honors student-athletes with a minimum 3.50 GPA who have competed in a significant percentage of their team’s matches.
Ballek, a forward with a perfect 4.0 GPA, stood out in his first season with Carolina, earning a spot on the Sun Belt All-Conference Second Team. Cargill, a midfielder, also had an impressive season, recording his first career multi-point match. Nilsson, a defender, played a key role in the team’s defensive efforts, helping to secure five shutouts on the season.
All three players have excelled academically while balancing the demands of collegiate soccer, showcasing their dedication and commitment to both their sport and their studies. Ballek and Nilsson have been selected as finalists for the Academic All-America® Team, with the final honorees to be announced on December 10.
Carolina is proud to have players recognized for their academic and athletic achievements, with a long history of success in the Academic All-District program.
