Press Article: New Charges Filed in Greer Dog Attack Incident
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. – A woman is facing charges related to a vicious dog attack that hospitalized a man on Valentine Lane in Greer. Environmental Enforcement officers had been searching for Jody Paradis in connection with the incident that occurred on Monday when three pit bull terrier mixes attacked the victim.
According to reports, the dogs involved in the attack included a bloodied, unaltered male pit bull mix described as white and black, a gray and white unaltered male, and a black and dark brown female. The conditions of the man injured in the attack have not been disclosed.
Angela Anderson has also been charged with violations of the local animal control ordinance. Investigators later located Paradis at a residence on Ravenel Street, where they executed a search warrant. Paradis was charged with several offenses, including owning and harboring a dangerous animal, allowing pets to run at large, creating a nuisance, and animal cruelty. The cruelty charge stemmed from the conditions of another dog found in her possession, which had not received adequate veterinary care.
In a decisive move, Paradis surrendered both of her dogs to officials from Spartanburg County. The dogs will undergo testing for rabies as a precautionary measure.
Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the dog attack and the treatment of the animals involved. The case has raised concerns about pet ownership and animal welfare in the community. Further updates regarding the charges and the condition of the victim are awaited.
