University of Minnesota Soccer Team Set for NCAA Playoff Showdown
MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota soccer team is primed for an exciting postseason match against No. 3 seed and No. 14 ranked South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championships. The highly anticipated game kicks off at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, November 22, at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and will be available for live streaming on ESPN+.
The Golden Gophers (13-4-3, 6-3-2 B1G) look to extend their successful campaign after defeating South Dakota State in the opening round, marking head coach Erin Chastain’s first NCAA Tournament win. In that match, graduate Sophia Boman netted both goals for Minnesota.
South Carolina (11-3-7, 5-2-3 SEC) enters the matchup fresh off a dominant 6-0 victory against Eastern Carolina, where freshman Shea Collins recorded her second hat trick of the season. The Gamecocks boast an impressive history in the tournament, reaching the NCAA for the 17th time, and are looking to build on their recent success that includes two SEC Tournament titles in the last four years.
