A Connecticut couple, Jadion Richards and Akwele Lawes-Richards, were arrested and charged with organized retail theft after allegedly stealing almost $1 million worth of items from Lululemon stores across the country. They were caught at a store in Woodbury, Minnesota, and it was revealed that they had been part of an organized crime group stealing from Lululemon since September. Their scheme involved Richards purchasing small items, then swapping security sensors onto larger items they would steal and conceal under their clothing. The couple, along with a third accomplice, would then leave the store, with Richards offering his bag with the purchased item when the security sensor beeped. A search of a hotel room they were staying in revealed suitcases with around $50,000 worth of stolen Lululemon merchandise. Both Richards and Lawes-Richards were booked into jail but have since been released on bail, with weekly check-ins required as part of their release conditions. Their next court date is set for December 16, and their attorneys have yet to comment on the charges.
