Three teams made significant moves in the College Football Playoff race this week as Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M suffered upset losses. South Carolina, Clemson, and Arizona State emerged as major winners. South Carolina has the opportunity to surpass Alabama and Ole Miss if they defeat Clemson in their upcoming game. Clemson could secure a spot in the ACC Championship Game if Syracuse upsets Miami. Arizona State and Texas A&M are the only bubble teams controlling their own destiny. If Arizona State wins the Big 12, they can keep Tulane out. If Texas A&M defeats Texas and Georgia, they could become the SEC champion. With the playoffs approaching, the penultimate rankings will be released on Dec. 3, and the Selection Sunday will be five days later. Under the new 12-team playoff format, the top four conference champions will receive first-round byes, with the remaining teams seeded 5-12. The action kicks off on Dec. 20 with first-round games on campus and culminates in the national championship on Jan. 20.
