A brush fire sparked by Hurricane Helene debris in Spartanburg, South Carolina is expected to burn for days, according to fire officials. The fire, which started early Wednesday morning, is burning through a massive amount of debris equivalent to about three two-story buildings, making extinguishing it a challenging task. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but the property is a state-owned site near River Oak Road and Short Cut Road. Sixteen fire departments collaborated to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to a nearby church or homes. The fire is expected to continue burning for an undetermined amount of time due to the large amount of debris fueling it. Copyright 2024 WRDW/WAGT.
