South Carolina increases police presence to ensure Thanksgiving holiday travel safety

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety will be conducting special enforcement during the Thanksgiving holiday period, with a heightened law enforcement presence focusing on enforcing traffic violations such as impaired driving, speeding, aggressive driving, seatbelt usage, and distracted driving. The SC Highway Patrol troopers and State Transport Police officers will be working to ensure the safety of motorists on the busy roads during this travel-heavy time of year. Director Robert G. Woods, IV emphasized the importance of planning ahead for heavy traffic and driving defensively to prevent devastating traffic collisions that could have been prevented. The department is urging drivers to buckle up, slow down, and put away distractions while on the roads. This initiative is part of the effort to keep the roads safe for travelers during the Thanksgiving holiday period.
