Summerville Diner, Family Restaurant, Ensures No One Eats Thanksgiving Alone
Statistics show that around 14% of Americans will spend Thanksgiving alone, but one Summerville restaurant is determined to change that. For the past 14 years, Family Restaurant has opened its doors on Thanksgiving to offer customers a free meal and a warm smile. Serving homemade comfort food since 1972, the diner has become a staple in the community.
Tiffiny Sieg, a long-time server at Family Restaurant, mentioned that while some diners might need the free meal, the majority are regulars who come for the welcoming atmosphere. Loyal patrons like Judy Thacker and Kim Rice, who visit every Sunday after church, feel like part of a close-knit family when they dine at the restaurant. Thacker expressed how the staff always makes everyone feel welcome, creating a sense of community that goes beyond just a meal.
As the Thanksgiving tradition at Family Restaurant continues to grow, more people flock to be a part of the diner’s welcoming and inclusive community.
