Purdue Women’s Basketball suffered a 99-51 loss to No. 4 South Carolina in the Elevance Health Fort Myers Tip-Off. Destini Lombard led Purdue with a career-high 22 points. The team shot 39.6% from the field and 7-of-13 from 3-point range. Despite a strong start, South Carolina pulled away with runs in the first half. Purdue continued to fight in the second half, with Lombard scoring 19 of her points during that time. South Carolina had seven players in double figures, with Mila Fulwiley leading with 14 points. The Boilermakers will now begin a three-game homestand starting with Maine at Mackey Arena.
Purdue’s efforts were led by Lombard’s impressive performance, but ultimately, South Carolina’s depth and consistency proved too much for them to handle. The team will look to regroup and make adjustments as they turn their focus to their upcoming home games.
