The South Carolina Stingrays secured a 5-2 victory over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in a thrilling game at the North Charleston Coliseum in front of a crowd of over 5,000 fans. Jon McDonald, Erik Middendorf (2), Josh Wilkins, and Jamie Engelbert all scored for the Stingrays, with Mitchell Gibson making 26 saves on 28 shots to secure the win. The game remained scoreless until McDonald scored in the first period, followed quickly by Middendorf extending the lead. Wilkins, Middendorf, and Engelbert continued to add to the Stingrays’ lead in the second period. Greenville fought back in the third period, outshooting the Stingrays and scoring two goals, but ultimately fell short as the Stingrays held on for the 5-2 win. The Stingrays will face off against the Orlando Solar Bears on Sunday afternoon at the Kia Center in Orlando.
