Arrest Made by South Carolina Highway Patrol in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case


A hit-and-run in Orangeburg County has resulted in an arrest, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover announced that a suspect is in custody in connection to a fatal auto-pedestrian crash involving a white Infiniti Q-50. The crash occurred around 11 p.m. Sunday when the driver of the Infiniti struck and killed Ricky Jamison, 62, of Orangeburg. The driver fled the scene, but the vehicle description led to an arrest. The driver was traveling south on Belleville Road at Cherry Lane and continued south toward Chestnut Street. Troopers described the vehicle as a 2014-2017 model white Infiniti Q-50 with front-end damage on the passenger side. The suspect’s name has not been released, and details about the investigation have not been disclosed. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting accidents promptly to authorities.
