Two Russian world champions were among the passengers on the American Eagle flight, according to Russian state media. U.S. Figure Skating confirmed that the athletes were returning from a training camp in Wichita. American Airlines expressed concern for the passengers and crew on board the aircraft and is working with authorities in the investigation and response efforts.
