Edwards’ dominant performance lifts No. 2 South Carolina to 83-66 victory against Auburn


South Carolina’s women’s basketball team extended their home winning streak to 70 games with an 83-66 victory over Auburn. Freshman Joyce Edwards led the team with 18 points, while Chloe Kitts contributed 13 points and nine rebounds. The game also marked the retirement of A’ja Wilson’s No. 22 jersey, a three-time WNBA MVP and former national champion.

Despite Auburn briefly tying the game in the second quarter, South Carolina took control with a 13-3 run. MiLaysia Fulwiley added 17 points for the Gamecocks, while DeYona Gaston had 31 points for Auburn.

South Carolina set a new SEC record with their 70th consecutive home win. The team’s defense was strong, recording 16 steals, the second most this season. Raven Johnson had a career-high six steals, while Chloe Kitts contributed both offensively and defensively. MiLaysia Fulwiley and Bree Hall also had strong performances, with Fulwiley scoring 17 points and Hall adding 10 points, including two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Joyce Edwards led the team in scoring for the 10th time this season.
