State Senator Orr praises Alabama Cyber Technology and Engineering on the McCrary Institute podcast

State Sen. Arthur Orr recently discussed the innovative approach of the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering (ASCTE) on the “Cyber Focus” podcast. Along with host Frank Cilluffo and ASCTE president Matt Massey, Orr highlighted the school’s unique mission of preparing students for the global job market in national defense and innovation. ASCTE is the nation’s only tuition-free high school focused on integrating cyber technology and engineering into all academic disciplines. Students spend their fourth year working with government agencies, defense contractors, or partner companies. The school recently partnered with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to enhance their cybersecurity program. Established in 2020, ASCTE has quickly gained attention, with a current enrollment of 367 students from across Alabama. The legislature passed the bill funding the school in 2018, with plans to graduate around 90 students annually. Orr and House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels serve on the Board of Trustees, overseeing the school’s development. The school’s success and unique approach have earned it a spot on national platforms like NBC News Now’s “The Future of Everything.” With a focus on hands-on experience and partnerships with industry leaders, ASCTE is shaping the next generation of cyber technology and engineering professionals.
