Stingrays Triumph Over Wheeling Nailers with 3-1 Victory


The South Carolina Stingrays secured a 3-1 victory over the Wheeling Nailers in their only regular-season meeting on Saturday night in North Charleston. Kyler Kupka and Tyler Weiss (2) scored for the Stingrays, with goaltender Garin Bjorklund making 27 saves in the win. Wheeling got on the board first with a shorthanded goal from David Jankowski, but the Stingrays quickly tied the game with a goal from Kupka. South Carolina took the lead with a goal from Weiss late in the second period before he sealed the win with an empty-net goal. The Stingrays’ next game is against the Jasonville Icemen on Bluey Day. Puck drop is set for 3:05 pm at the North Charleston Coliseum on February 16th. The win improves the Stingrays’ record as they continue their push towards the playoffs.
