Mill Outlet Fabric Shop in Colorado Springs is celebrating its 60th anniversary this month, offering a wide range of unique textiles and specialty materials. The 12,000-square-foot sales floor is filled with solid linens, ornate buttons, lace trims, and terry cloth, attracting crafters from all over. The shop, under new ownership since 2021, has been revitalized by owner Natalie Mielke and her daughter, Tiffany Morin. The store has undergone cleaning, reorganization, and an emphasis on customer service, with employees specializing in various crafting areas.
Customers, ranging from teachers to cosplayers, quilters, and upholsterers, come from near and far to browse the eccentric inventory. Some even plan their vacations around visiting the store. With added classes on quilting and sewing, Mill Outlet has become a staple in the local crafting community.
Ruby Frazier, a longtime employee, notes the brighter atmosphere that Mielke and Morin have brought to the store, making it a cheerful and welcoming space for customers. Mielke’s goal is to keep the shop going for generations to come, with her daughter eventually taking over and her granddaughters continuing the legacy. This commitment to preserving the store’s unique offerings and personalized service is what sets Mill Outlet Fabric Shop apart and keeps customers coming back over the years.
