‘Oldest South Carolina Town Resident Celebrates 108 Years with Blessings from Above’


Geneva Bell of Ridgeway, South Carolina, recently celebrated her 108th birthday surrounded by her community. The town came together at the Issac Thomas Historical Museum to honor Bell as the oldest resident in Ridgeway. The Mayor and Town Council recognized her impact on the community with a special resolution. Bell, who was born in 1917, has lived a full life working at the Charm Corporation and being an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She attributes her longevity to always doing the right thing and her strong faith in God. Bell is a mother to twelve children, and has a large extended family with 52 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, and 70 great-great-grandchildren. The celebration highlighted Bell’s wisdom, love, and sense of humor, with family and community members expressing gratitude for her positive influence. The public can learn more about Bell’s life and impact at the Issac Thomas Historical Museum, which showcases the history of Ridgeway’s community, commerce, and culture.
