COLUMBIA S.C. – A new bipartisan caucus has been established in the South Carolina legislature, led by Rep. Brandon Newton and Sen. Deon Tedder. Known as the South Carolina Future Caucus, this initiative aims to promote representation of Gen-Z and millennial lawmakers in state governments across the country. The national Future Caucus, founded in 2013, has already engaged over 1,800 young legislators in bridging political divides and transforming American politics.
South Carolina is the 35th state to join this movement, expressing a commitment to addressing community issues and moving beyond partisan divisions. The group has appointed co-chairs from both major parties and held a press conference at the State House to announce their formation.
Despite being newly established, the South Carolina Future Caucus has not yet outlined its legislative priorities for the year. However, the caucus is part of a larger national effort to empower young leaders to shape the future of American politics.
As part of this initiative, the Future Caucus intends to empower the next generation of leaders to bring about positive change and create a more inclusive political landscape. With the participation of lawmakers under the age of 45, the South Carolina Future Caucus hopes to inspire a new wave of political engagement and collaboration across party lines.
