Police: South Carolina man dies after being shot by family member’s booby trap

A man in South Carolina was killed by a shotgun booby trap allegedly set up by one of his family members, according to police. Jordan Dove, 34, was shot upon arriving at a vacant home in Saint Matthews on Monday and later died from his injuries. The incident occurred about 35 miles south of Columbia. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the home belonged to Dove’s family member and that charges will be filed against Alfonzo Brown, who is currently incarcerated. Authorities stated that the shotgun was rigged at the back door to go off when someone attempted to enter the residence. The front door was also barricaded. Sheriff Thomas Summers described the situation as dangerous and targeted at law enforcement. However, there is currently no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more information.
