Representative from South Carolina suggests featuring Trump on $250 bill

A bill introduced by U.S. Representative Joe Wilson from South Carolina proposes putting President Donald Trump’s face on a $250 bill to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence in 2026. The bill was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Feb. 27 and has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services. If passed, the Trump-featuring $250 bills would be printed within a year. Currently, five out of seven U.S. currency denominations feature U.S. presidents, despite neither Alexander Hamilton nor Benjamin Franklin being presidents. Wilson posted a rendering of the proposed $250 bill on social media, referring to it as the “Most valuable bill for most valuable President.” The bill’s progress can be tracked on Congress’ website. Wilson’s proposal has sparked discussion and debate among lawmakers and the public regarding the potential change to U.S. currency.
