Wisconsin teenager found 800 miles away with gun, named person of interest in deaths of mother and stepfather

A 17-year-old Wisconsin teenager was arrested in Iowa more than 800 miles from his home after his mother and stepfather were found dead in their Waukesha home. The teenager was stopped for running a stop sign in WaKeeney, Iowa, and was found to be a person of interest in the double homicide case. The victims were identified as Donald Mayer and Tatiana Casap, who was the teenager’s mother. The teenager has been charged with taking his stepfather’s car and a firearm.

The teenager had perfect attendance at school before he failed to show up for class, prompting a welfare check that led to the discovery of the crime scene. He was seen driving his stepfather’s car on Feb. 23 and left Waukesha on Feb. 24, traveling through several states. Security cameras showed him accompanied by the family’s dog. Prosecutors found the victims’ driver’s licenses, spent shell casings, and a missing gun in the car.

The victims were described as a loving couple who enjoyed working outside together, planting flowers and trees. The teenager had a good relationship with his stepfather and was well-liked at school. His sudden disappearance and involvement in the homicide case came as a shock to those who knew him. The investigation is ongoing, and the teenager remains in custody as authorities work to uncover the motives behind the tragic incident.
