Fifth-ranked South Carolina secures spot in SEC Tournament championship after 93-75 victory against tenth-ranked Oklahoma

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — No. 5 South Carolina dominated 10th-ranked Oklahoma with a 93-75 win, advancing to the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game. Joyce Edwards led the Gamecocks with 21 points, while MiLaysia Fulwiley added 19 off the bench and Sania Feagin contributed 14. South Carolina’s suffocating defense forced turnovers and bad shots, leading to a double-digit lead in the first quarter. They held Oklahoma without a field goal for the last four minutes of the first half to stretch their lead to 45-28.

Despite Oklahoma’s efforts, with Sahara Williams scoring 17 points and Payton Verhulst adding 15 points and nine assists, they were unable to overcome South Carolina’s dominant performance. South Carolina outscored Oklahoma 50-26 in the paint and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 22 points off 16 turnovers.

South Carolina will compete for their third straight SEC title in the championship game against the winner of No. 1 Texas/No. 9 LSU. Oklahoma now awaits their NCAA Tournament seed.
