A weather system moving eastward from the Mississippi Valley could bring strong storms to South Carolina and the Midlands this weekend, with the greatest potential for severe weather on Sunday. Severe storms are expected along the mid-Mississippi Valley on Friday, shifting eastward to the Gulf South and Upstate South Carolina on Saturday before reaching the Midlands on Sunday, although the risk is currently only slight. The Storm Prediction Center predicts the most likely time for severe weather in the Midlands will be the first half of Sunday. Before the unsettled weather hits, the Midlands will experience several days of unseasonably warm conditions with temperatures reaching the low to mid-70s on Tuesday under clear skies, following cooler weather on Monday. News19’s meteorologists will be monitoring the system closely to provide updates on timing over the next few days.
