General Steven S. Nordhaus, chief of the National Guard Bureau, recently visited the South Carolina National Guard to engage with leadership, recognize excellence, and observe operations. Accompanied by Command Sgt. Maj. John T. Raines III, they were welcomed by Col. Shawn Bowes and Col. Sean Renbarger. Nordhaus met with various officials and focused on the 1st Battalion, 151st Attack Reconnaissance Regiment, equipped with AH-64E Apache Version 6 models. Lt. Col. Steven P. Seigler highlighted the capabilities of the advanced aircraft. Nordhaus recognized outstanding Soldiers and Airmen, toured the flight facility, and went on an orientation flight in an Apache helicopter. After his visit, he traveled to Fort Jackson to meet with National Guard drill sergeants. South Carolina’s role in Army aviation was praised by Nordhaus, with the state being one of two National Guard states with AH-64E helicopters.
