36 fatalities reported as storms move eastward; Power outages affect over 380,000 customers in East Coast, South, and Midwest areas


A mobile home community and a school in Calera, Alabama have sustained significant damage due to severe weather, with the school’s roof and several trailers impacted. Reports of over 380,000 utility customers without power have been confirmed across the East Coast, Midwest, and South regions. Meanwhile, at least 36 people have been reported dead from the storms that have hit parts of the South and Midwest, with 12 deaths in Missouri. Two people have been confirmed dead in Alabama due to severe weather, while nearly 200,000 utility customers are without power in the South and Midwest.

In addition, House Speaker Mike Johnson has conveyed prayers for those impacted, and Governor Kay Ivey has shared news of the deaths in Alabama. The National Weather Service has expanded a tornado watch in northern Florida, urging residents to be prepared for possible warnings. Tornado warnings and watches are being closely monitored to ensure the safety of those in affected areas throughout the storm.
