South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pamela Evett is leading the 2026 gubernatorial race among Republican voters, according to a recent poll conducted by The Trafalgar Group. The survey, which included 1,127 “likely” Republican voters, was conducted from March 8-10 and found that over 31% favored Evette. U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace came in second with 29.1%, followed by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson with 27.9%, and U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman with 11% support.
The majority of South Carolina Republicans surveyed also expressed support for President Donald Trump’s work in office so far. The poll found that over half of the participants were over the age of 65, and roughly 90% identified as white. Poll coordinators reported a margin of error of 2.9%.
The results of the poll indicate that Evette has a strong lead in the race for the Republican nomination for governor in 2026. With the support of over 31% of likely Republican voters, she is currently the frontrunner in the race. However, with close competition from Nancy Mace and others, the race is far from decided. It will be interesting to see how these results influence the upcoming campaign and whether Evette can maintain her lead as the race progresses.
