Nyck Harbor to join South Carolina football team as full participant in practice

South Carolina wide receiver Nyck Harbor is set to participate in spring football practice for the Gamecocks this year after skipping both the indoor and outdoor track seasons to focus on football. This decision is expected to be beneficial for the 6-foot-5, 235-pound speedster, who showed improvement as a receiver during the 2024 season. Head coach Shane Beamer praised Harbor’s commitment to football and recognized the potential upside of him spending more time with the football team.

Harbor’s decision to prioritize football over track is seen as a positive move for his development and preparation for the upcoming season. This will be his first true spring practice with South Carolina after only watching last year while participating in track. He had a career-high 26 catches for 376 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore. The Gamecocks’ first spring practice is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Beamer emphasized that Harbor’s focus on football was a personal choice and that he wanted to maximize his potential by dedicating more time to football. By skipping the track seasons and fully committing to spring practice with the football team, Harbor is aiming to make significant strides in his performance. Gamecock fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing him in action during the upcoming season.
