Anti-Musk activist from South Carolina accidentally sets himself on fire while vandalizing Tesla dealership

Daniel Clarke-Pounder, a 24-year-old from South Carolina, attempted to burn down a Tesla charging station in protest of President Trump and Elon Musk but ended up setting himself on fire in the process, according to authorities. Clarke-Pounder was seen throwing Molotov cocktails at the charging station, leaving himself on fire as he fled the scene. Witnesses reported seeing him accidentally catching his own back on fire while trying to set the chargers ablaze. Clarke-Pounder was later arrested and faces up to 20 years in prison.

Acting U.S. Attorney Brook B. Andrews condemned the attack, stating that while peaceful protests are allowed, violence will not be tolerated. This incident follows a string of attacks on Tesla properties, including a Colorado dealership being vandalized and a Cybertruck being defaced in New York. President Trump himself recently showed support for Elon Musk by committing to buying a Tesla in front of the White House.

Clarke-Pounder has a previous arrest record from 2023, including charges of DUI and driving without insurance. The attack on the Tesla charging station comes as part of a growing backlash against Musk and his association with the Trump administration. Despite the incident, authorities are urging for unity and respect amid political differences.
