A federal judge in New York has dismissed racketeering allegations against Sean Combs in a $30 million sexual assault and harassment lawsuit filed by producer Rodney Jones, who worked on Combs’ most recent album. Jones accused Combs of making unwanted sexual contact, forcing him to hire sex workers, and participating in sex acts. The lawsuit alleged that Combs was involved in a racketeering and conspiracy enterprise involving sex trafficking. However, the judge dismissed the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act allegation, citing a lack of proof of an injury to business or property. The judge also dismissed allegations of infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract but allowed claims of sex trafficking to proceed. Jones’ lawyer was criticized for “unsettling” conduct in response to Combs’ motion to dismiss. Combs, who is detained in Brooklyn awaiting trial, has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty. The trial is scheduled to begin in May. Combs’ former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, who was also named in the lawsuit, denied any involvement in the allegations and expressed the damage to her reputation and emotional well-being caused by the accusations. Combs’ representatives did not provide immediate comment on the ruling.
