Severe Weather Update for Eastern North and South Carolina

Staff Report: Important Updates on Severe Weather

The National Weather Service has issued important updates regarding severe weather in the Carolinas. The severe risk has decreased for the coastal plain of the Carolinas, and the tornado risk has also been lowered across the area. However, there is still some uncertainty regarding the storm risk and severity.

A line of thunderstorms is expected to move across the area late today, potentially diminishing as it approaches the coast. The primary threat is damaging wind gusts of 60+ mph, which could lead to isolated downed trees, power lines, and structural damage. Isolated severe storms are possible within the convective line late Monday afternoon inland and during the evening hours along the coast. The greatest chance for severe weather is along and west of I-95.

The confidence level is low to moderate regarding severe storm occurrence inland, but confidence decreases as storms move towards the coast. Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather developments on the National Weather Service website.
