Parker introduces new Mobile Electrification Technology Center training program

Parker Hannifin recently launched the industry’s first certified Mobile Electrification Technology Center aimed at training mobile equipment technicians in the transition from conventional diesel engines to modern electric motors. This initiative is crucial as the electrification of mobile equipment continues to grow, providing new opportunities for construction and engineering companies in various environments. However, it also presents challenges such as integrating hydraulic implements, electronic controls, and upfit accessories designed to operate on 12V power.

The training program is designed to ensure the safety of technicians and help accelerate the shift to electric vehicles. Companies like Nott Company have already completed the training, certifying their technicians on Parker’s electric motors and control systems. With the rise of electric equipment assets like Bobcat’s T7X compact track loader and E10e electric excavator, specialized electrical systems training is becoming vital.

Parker’s certification program aims to bridge the skills gap created by the shift to electric vehicles, equipping technicians with the necessary skills to maximize performance and mitigate risks associated with high-voltage systems. Other distributors such as Depatie Fluid Power and Hydradyne have also completed the certification.

The initiative has been well-received by industry experts, with Mark Schoessler, VP of sales for Parker’s Motion Systems Group, emphasizing the impact on reducing environmental footprints and enhancing operational efficiency. The program’s goal is to empower machine manufacturers and ensure they are equipped to handle the challenges and opportunities presented by mobile electrification technologies.
