Governor McMaster and SLED team up to crack down on dogfighting

Governor Henry McMaster and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are holding a press conference to provide updates on efforts to combat dogfighting in the state. The conference will take place at the SLED Forensics Services Laboratory at 2:30 p.m. and will be live streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Gov. McMaster and SLED Chief Mark Keel will be joined by state and local law enforcement officials to discuss ongoing initiatives to address the issue of illegal dogfighting. Dogfighting is a cruel and inhumane practice that involves training dogs to fight each other for the entertainment and profit of spectators. It is a serious crime that carries severe penalties under South Carolina law.

The press conference is part of the state’s continuing efforts to crack down on animal cruelty and protect the welfare of animals in South Carolina. Law enforcement agencies are working together to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in dogfighting operations, with the goal of putting an end to this barbaric practice.
