Eila Galitsky, a standout mid-year enrollee from Thailand, was named SEC Freshman of the Week for her impressive T-4th finish at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur last Saturday. Galitsky’s final round score of 66 (-6) tied the lowest final round in tournament history at Augusta National. She led all SEC competitors in the field with her top-five finish, showcasing her talent and skill on the course.
Galitsky’s performance included a bogey-free 31 on the front nine and solid birdie opportunities throughout the round. Her 54-hole total of 208 (-8) was the lowest score ever by a Gamecock in the ANWA, further solidifying her status as a rising star in collegiate golf.
This is Galitsky’s second SEC Freshman of the Week honor, following her win at the Moon Golf Invitational earlier this year. With the SEC Championship on the horizon, Galitsky and the No. 5 Gamecocks are poised to continue their success on the course. The conference tournament will take place at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla., with teams competing in stroke play to determine an individual SEC Champion.
Fans can catch the exciting action of the SEC Championship on SEC Network, with the title match airing live on Friday at 10 a.m. (ET). Galitsky’s impressive performance at the ANWA has solidified her as a rising star in collegiate golf, and her future looks bright as she continues to make her mark on the sport.
