Woman in South Carolina bravely defends husband from alligator

A heroic act by a South Carolina woman saved her husband from a brutal alligator attack in Sun City, Hilton Head. Marian Roeser fought off an eight-and-a-half-foot-long alligator with a tomato stake as it attacked her husband, Joe, while they were tending to their garden near a pond on Colburn Drive. Joe was airlifted to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, including bite wounds to his leg and abrasions to his head. The alligator responsible was captured and put down by authorities.

Lt. Danny Allen of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office praised Marian’s quick thinking and bravery, calling her a hero. He also emphasized the importance of reporting alligator activity and exercising caution near bodies of water, particularly during peak breeding and movement seasons. The sheriff’s office reminds the public to call 911 if they encounter a threatening situation involving alligators. This incident serves as a reminder for residents to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to stay safe around wildlife.
