The 11th edition of the Remembering Veenapani Festival 2025 was inaugurated by French Consul General Etienne Rolland-Piegue at the Adishakti Laboratory For Theatre Art Research in Puducherry. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan paid tribute to the legacy of Veenapani Chawla, highlighting her fearless approach to creativity. Khan emphasized the power of storytelling to touch hearts and bring people together, praising Chawla’s ability to bridge tradition and innovation through Adishakti.
The festival, supported by the Ministry of Culture, promises to showcase events that are out of the ordinary. A 120-page e-book titled ‘The Bow and the Veena – A Dance of Dualities’ was also launched, aiming to introduce Veenapani’s theatrical vision to a wider audience through a combination of text, music, images, and video animation.
The opening ceremony was attended by Adishakti Artistic Director Vinay Kumar and other theatre enthusiasts. Consul General Rolland-Piegue expressed his hopes that the festival would continue to push boundaries and maintain its reputation for excellence in staging unique and thought-provoking events. The festival aims to celebrate art as a force that shapes society and belongs to everyone. The event promises to be a blend of tradition and innovation, honoring the legacy of Veenapani Chawla and her pioneering work in the world of theatre.
