The ship, which set sail from Bergen, Norway on April 11th, is now equipped with a suite of Kongsberg Discovery technology including acoustic doppler current profilers, echo sounders, hydrophones, and navigation systems, among other equipment. This technology will support scientific exploration of remote marine environments and contribute to a deeper understanding of the world’s oceans.
The One Ocean Expedition 2025-2026 is a 12-month voyage with stops across three continents, where a diverse crew of scientists, students, and stakeholders will collect data to assess ocean health and monitor marine ecosystems. Kongsberg Discovery’s cutting-edge solutions will play a vital role in gathering data to address pressing issues such as climate change and marine pollution.
The technology package installed on Statsraad Lehmkuhl will enable the expedition to measure ocean currents, record underwater noise, and conduct research in the remote Northwest Passage.
