Murray State Track Team Achieves Three Top Three Finishes in South Carolina


The Murray State Track & Field team showcased their talent at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina, securing three top three finishes against tough competition. Junior Chelby Melvin, holder of the Murray State 400m hurdles record, took second place with a time of 59.77, putting her in the top 80 nationally. The 4×400 relay team, composed of Melvin, Simone Joseph, Amahrie Harsh, and Presley Gallimore, finished third with a time of 3:46.04, ranking them third in the MVC and breaking the top 100 nationally.
The 4x100m relay team also finished second, with graduate student Faith Bostick, junior Alyssa Williams, and freshmen Serena Blackwood and Harsh, posting a time of 45.84. Several team members also achieved top five finishes in individual events.
With their sights set on the upcoming Missouri Valley Championships, the Racers will head to Terre Haute, Indiana, for their next meet on April 17-19. This successful showing in Columbia has boosted their confidence as they continue their season.
