South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley joins transfer portal

South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley has officially entered the transfer portal, according to a source with access to it. The anonymous source spoke to The Associated Press, indicating that Fulwiley has a “do not contact” designation, suggesting she may already have a new school in mind.

The 5-foot-10 sophomore guard was named the Southeastern Conference Sixth Player of the Year and played a key role in helping the Gamecocks reach the national championship game, where they fell to UConn. In her two seasons at South Carolina, Fulwiley averaged 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

Despite starting just three of her 77 games at South Carolina, Fulwiley gained attention for her exciting plays on offense, becoming one of the most thrilling players in college basketball.

The news of Fulwiley’s decision to enter the transfer portal was first reported by The Greenville News. South Carolina has already added transfer guard Ta’Niya Latson, who led the country in scoring last season.

The transfer portal opened on March 25 and will close on April 22. Players can still withdraw from the portal and return to their original team after the closing date. Fulwiley’s move signals a new chapter in her collegiate basketball career as she looks for a new opportunity to showcase her skills.
