South Carolina Track & Field showcased their talent in Saturday’s outdoor home finale, with JaMeesia Ford earning Women’s Runner of the Week and Josiah Wrice named Men’s Freshman of the Week in the SEC. Ford impressed with wins in the 100m and the 4x100m relay, clocking a personal best of 11.06 in the 100m, ranking fourth in the NCAA. She also anchored the 4x100m relay, securing the seventh fastest time in the NCAA this season. Wrice made his mark in the relay events, contributing to South Carolina’s victories in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, with a personal best time of 46.02 in the 400m.
Both athletes will be seen in action at the upcoming Michael Johnson Invite in Waco, Texas. Meanwhile, the rest of the Gamecock team will be split between the Michael Johnson Invite, Wake Forest Invitational, and the Tom Jones Invitational. The outstanding performances of Ford and Wrice have not only brought recognition to the South Carolina Track & Field program but have also highlighted the talent and potential of the team as they continue to excel in competitions.
